Sometimes, we spend too much time in a job we do not enjoy and does not
provide us with a suitable challenge. This can have an extremely negative
impact on our mental health, especially as we spend so much of our time at
work. Therefore, you must find a job that you love. For many, this may mean
that you need to change your career entirely and enter a new field.

With that in mind, here are some top tips on how to ready yourself for a
    career move.

  1: Do Your Research

When changing careers, you must do your research on your chosen industry.
You might want to ask yourself the following questions:

  - What qualifications do I need?
- What skills do I already possess that make this career viable?
- How much will I earn?
- What are the options for growth/development?
- What are the hours?
- What is the workplace culture like?
Once you know everything there is to know about your chosen industry, you
can begin your job search. Through research will make you stand out from the
crowd during the application stage, as it shows that you are committed to
the industry and willing to learn.

  2: Gain extra qualifications

The job market is more competitive than ever, with several overqualified
people often applying for the same job. Therefore, you must know what to
include and what you should not include in your resume to help you stand out
from the crowd. Whenever you apply for a job, you should alter your CV
slightly so that it matches the job specification. However, you have to
remember that you will be going against people who already work within the
industry and may have years of experience, so your resume has to be
    particularly strong.

You may also find that you need to take part in some online courses or
training, to ensure you are suitably prepared to take on the role. For
example, if you wish to work in the legal field as an attorney, you will
need to pass the bar exam. Thankfully, there are plenty of resources
available online, such as those provided by UWorld that make passing the bar
    exam easy!

  3: Ask for advice

Finding a way into a new industry can be difficult, so you need to make use
of all available resources around you. Speak to those who already work in
your chosen field, ask them how they found their way into the career and
whether they know of any openings. Utilise any connections you have and find
    ways to grow them.

  4: Impress in the Interview

Although your resume allows a potential employer to gain an understanding of
who you are, the interview stage is vital. If you feel as though other
candidates have more experience, the interview provides you with the
opportunity to convince the employer to take a chance on you. To do this,
you need to demonstrate your skills, but also show them your personality.
Remember, they are not only hiring somebody to get the job done but somebody
who they will see every day, so your personality is just as important as
your skills. You need to be confident, collected and above all natural.
